The mission of Trash for Peace (TfP) is to provide hands-on, creative experiences to encourage
resilient communities. Its vision is empowered, healthy communities living in a world without
waste. TfP implements two main programs: the Sustainability Education Program (SEP), and the
Environmental Promoter and Multifamily Outreach Program, through which TfP directly engages
hundreds of community members that self-identify as low-income and/or BIPOC and diverts hundreds of
pounds of trash from the landfill.

Position Summary:
Trash for Peace (TfP) seeks a passionate, organized, and experienced individual to join our team as
a Career Coach. This position is an exciting opportunity to expand our Environmental Promoter and
Multifamily Outreach Program to include Career Coaching in partnership with Worksystems. This
position (bilingual in Spanish and English) will work to connect members of the community,
primarily Environmental Promoter Alumni, to living wage jobs. This position will provide support,
resources, and
connections to ensure participants are successful in achieving their initial career goals.
ESSENTIAL FUNCTIONS (to include, but not limited to):
Coordinate Career Coaching Services
● Work directly with multi-family residents and Environmental Promoter alumni interested in
pathways to careers in local “green” industries which will support quality, family-wage jobs.
● Collaborate with Environmental Promoter staff to create outreach materials and recruit
participants
● Support participants in accessing resources, training, and support necessary for securing jobs
and troubleshooting to overcome barriers to participation including digital literacy,
transportation, and childcare.
● Participate in Worksystems trainings
● Outreach to local businesses and organizations that may be interested in hiring participants
● Develop relationships with these employers to understand their needs and best prepare
participants for successful job attainment and retention.
● Collect and enter data related to projects in Google Docs/Sheets, Excel, and Word.
● Seek feedback from participants to ensure programming is reflective of community interests and
needs
POSITION REQUIREMENTS
● Bilingual in Spanish and English.
● Experience in career development, mentorship, and/or leadership.
● Interest and experience in Community Development, Sustainability, and Environmental
Justice.
● Experience working with adults from a variety of cultural backgrounds.
● Experience leading activities, workshops, or presentations with adults.
● Experience developing and/or implementing curriculum.
● Proficiency with Google Suite, Microsoft Word, PowerPoint and Excel.
● Flexibility, a sense of humor, and willingness to work with a vibrant, diverse, and dynamic
team.
● Access to a vehicle for deliveries and work-related travel.
● Possession of a driver's license valid in the State of Oregon and an acceptable driving
record.
● Strong organizational skills.
● Regular and reliable attendance and dependability.
● Must be able to report on time and follow a regular weekly schedule; available for limited
work on weekends.
● Able to attend both in-person and online virtual team meetings (weekly).
