Community Program Manager

Location: Anywhere within the Continental United States but travel is required.

Reports to: Director of Community Programs

Position: Full time, 40 hours per week, exempt employee

Salary: $80k-$85k

JOB PURPOSE

We are looking for a Community Program Manager to support the System Optimization Team of The Recycling Partnership. Reporting to the Director of Community Programs, but engaging with many members of The Partnership, as well as corporate leaders, foundations and government agencies, this position is responsible for implementing grants that the Recycling Partnership is contracted with, providing technical assistance and coaching to grantees, ensuring programs stay on track, reimbursing grants, ensuring that metrics are complete and accurate and bringing in final reports to inform future granting.

CORE RESPONSIBILITIES FOR THIS JOB

75% – Implement and Manage Community Grants to increase Equitable Access, Capture and Quality in US Recycling System

  • Project management for numerous grant programs simultaneously

  • Brainstorm, problem solve and design solutions and strategies for community projects individually and with teammates.

  • Manage the reporting and timely reimbursement of all expenses throughout each grant cycle

  • Facilitate creation of outreach and education materials including copy editing and graphic design review. Avoid customization of collateral that strays from existing templates except when customization will add to nationwide collateral library.

  • Travel as needed to project sites when physically being on-site will substantially further the project or remove barriers to project success. Travel to represent TRP at events, conferences, workshops, etc.

  • Communicate community “stories,” opportunities, and successes to other programs within the Partnership

  • Manage projects within the scope that was passed along to the Grant Implementation Team. Avoid expanding projects beyond scope as we continue to scale our work.

  • Follow established procedures to succeed as a Community Program Manager

15% – Be a Trusted Advisor and Brand Ambassador of The Recycling Partnership

  • Build collaborations and trust with other public, private, governmental, and non-governmental organizations

  • Keep up to date with ongoing Partnership programs, initiatives, and coalitions through cross team coordination

  • Continue to learn about industry trends and BMPs

  • Be a continual source of technical assistance and partnership to enhance recycling and promote a more circular economy

  • Publicly represent The Partnership to further trust and reliance as a resource

10% – Update Tools and Resources to Further The Partnership as a Trusted Source of Recycling Best Management Practices

  • Create and update internal tools and external community resources as needed

  • Assist with document management and organization

KNOWLEDGE & SKILLS FOR THIS JOB

  • Understanding of how local governments manage recycling programs; including but not limited to, hauling, MRF and local government relationships

  • Understanding of Recycling Collection and Operations; including but not limited to, program cost centers and program budget development

  • Ability to absorb knowledge and BMPs from teammates and organizational BMPs to coach, teach, and support grantees in their implementation of new programming

  • Ability to think on your feet and react quickly to any/all technical questions that might be asked by grantees

  • Ability to identify when you must pull in a teammate with more experience or knowledge on a subject to support a project

  • Excellent and clear internal and external communication skills

  • Highly organized and able to balance priorities

  • Local government recycling operations or state government recycling office granting experience is preferred
