The Arc Portland Metro is hiring a Thrift Recycling Supervisor for our reuse program. This position will be responsible for receiving items donated to our organization by the community, including (but not limited to) clothing, household items, media, scrap recycling, and e-cycling. This crucial role oversees the repurposing of these items into sustainable and/or local reuse / recycling streams, diverting them from the landfill or nonlocal markets.

The Thrift Recycling Supervisor directs and supports the day to day operations of the donation center: receiving and processing donations, curating products for reuse, designating items for recycling, supporting and supervising team members, and training and leading volunteers. This position will provide responsive, individualized support for our integrated warehouse team, and in particular our team members who experience neurodivergence.

This is a full time position that will require you to work with staff, the public, and volunteers. This position requires sound decision making skills to optimize operations, and excellent leadership skills to empower team members. This position will work in a warehouse environment. This is a physical job that requires being on your feet for extended periods of time.

There is room for advancement in our repurposing programs, and this position can expect to grow into an assistant manager position as rapidly as individual professional development allows.
