6:30 p.m.-7 p.m. Speaker: Master Recycler Sanne Stienstra, class 60—Food Waste Prevention by Grocers in the UK. Sanne will discuss food waste in the U.S. grocery retail and brand manufacturing sectors. In her graduate school research at the University of Washington Evans School of Public Policy & Governance, Sanne looked into whether a voluntary food waste reduction agreement among industry in the United Kingdom could serve as a model for companies in the U.S. to reduce food waste in their business. Sanne will talk about her interviews with members of the voluntary agreement and her findings when comparing the U.S. and U.K. situations.
